Band Biography

A Quick Look

Gritty alt-pop outfit MAURITIA continue to push boundaries and turn heads with their high-energy, anthemic sound. Interlacing dreamy pop synths and silky indie guitar riffs with soaring hooks and melancholic lyricism, MAURITIA echo tales of millennial life in the north.

Formed of childhood friends Josh Hedges (Lead Vocals), Sam Copsey (Bass), Sean Blenkin (Lead Guitar), Lee Fuller and (Rhythm Guitar) and Jonny Yeo (Drums), MAURITIA formed in 2017 as a project that would shout above the noise.

The bands debut single 'Skin' amassed more than 200,000 streams worldwide and created a tight knit following for the alt-pop quintet. Drawing inspiration from the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Foals and Coin, MAURITIA blurs the line between pop and alternative, carving out their own unique sound. Striving to push the boundaries, MAURITIA have had great success in the local and national music scene. As well as playing festival slots at the likes of Humber Street Sesh and Live at Leeds festival, the band have also actively performed on various social media live streams throughout the U.K., including performances for Hull University and Klarna U.K.
